HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY is a 1993 remake of the 1962 Disney kiddie classic. It’s cute, neatly shot and all ends well by the time minute-84 fades. This time, instead of simple narration, the three animal heroes (American bulldog, Himalayan cat, Golden retriever) have ‘dialogue’, spoken by Michael J. Fox, Sally Field and Don Ameche.  A sizable hit, making $41,800,000 at home (35ht place) and $15,500,000 internationally, prodding a sequel three years later. Written by Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands), Linda Woolverton (The Lion King) and Jonathan Roberts (The Sure Thing), the pleasant time twiddler was directed by former film editor Duwayne Dunham. Shot in Oregon. With Robert Hays, Jean Smart and Kim Greist.
